SMO reinstated: The Senior Medical Officer of the local civil hospital, Dr Jugraj Singh Sandhu, who had been suspended for preparing a wrong medico-legal report, has been reinstated by the Principal Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Punjab, Mr Rajesh Chabbra.

JALANDHAR
Two arrested: Inderjeet Singh and Sarbjit Singh, both residents of Jandu Singha village were arrested by the police on Thursday, from Kala Singha near ghaas mandi, Basti Seikh. The police seized 50 kg of poppy husk from them. A case under the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused.

Bhargava award: Ms Tejpreet Kaur the Assistant Professor of child development in the Department of Human Resource and Management, Home Science College, PAU, has been selected for the fifth HP Bhargava Memorial Award. The award will be presented to her at the annual conference of the All India Association of Educational Research in December at Coimbatore in Andhra Pradesh.

MOGA
Electrocuted: A resident of Jaimalwala village under Baghapurana police station in this district was electrocuted on Wednesday while he was working in fields. The body had been sent for post mortem examination.

Rajasthan exhibition: An exhibition-cum-sale of ethnic furniture, textiles and handicraft items of Rajasthan is on at Lajpat Rai Bhavan in Sector 15 here. The exhibition has been organised by the Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation and sponsored by the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts (Ministry of Textiles), under the aegis of the Rajasthali. It was inaugurated by the Adviser to the Administrator, Ms Vineeta Rai, on Friday.

Ram katha:
The Vaishnu Seva Mandal of SAS Nagar is organising 'Ram katha' at Laxmi Narayan Mandir in Phase 3B2. Mr Manoj Kumar, General Secretary of the mandal, said the narration of 'Ram katha' by Swami Deen Dyal, which began on Wednesday will end on Tuesday.

FARIDABAD
DAP fertilisers:
Resentment prevails among farmers of Faridabad-Ballabgarh, Palwal, Hodal and the nearby villages over the non-availability of the DAP fertilisers. The Vice-President of the District Congress Committee, Mr R.K. Malhotra, said here on Friday that sowing of mustard and several other seeds was in progress and the state government should supply the fertilisers to the farmers at the earliest.

Dealers warned: The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Anand Mohan Sharan, at a meeting of the LPG dealers on Friday warned the LPG agencies that action would be taken against them if they forced new consumers to purchase stoves from them. They were also directed not to charge more than Rs 2,420 per connection from the new consumers. An official of the Food and Supplies Department would be stationed at the each LPG agency to oversee the distribution of the new connections, he added.

YAMUNANAGAR
One killed: A11-year-old boy, Dhani Ram of Garibazar village, 8 km from here, was crushed to death by a tractor trailer on Friday. A case has been registered against the driver of the tractor. The body has been sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem examination.
