CBI chargesheets 3 MTNL officials
NEW DELHI, December 28 (PTI) — The Special Investigation Group of the CBI has filed a charge sheet against three MTNL officials and two others for causing a loss of Rs 9.5 lakh to the MTNL and the Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) by making long-duration ISD unbilled calls to Saudi Arabia. A CBI investigation revealed that MTNL officials had created a spare telephone line on disconnected lines on which a large number of ISD and STD calls were made to Saudi Arabia, a CBI press note said on Monday.

Indo-Myanmar border sealed
IMPHAL, December 28 (PTI) — Indo-Myanmar border at Moreh in Manipur has been sealed following erection of an "unauthorised fencing" at no-man’s-land by Myanmarese authorities, delayed official reports said on Tuesday. The sealing of the border has brought all cross-border trade through this town to a standstill, official sources said.

CHENNAI, December 28 (PTI) — Umar Farooq, an alleged fundamentalist wanted in connection with several crimes in Tamil Nadu, was arrested on Sunday by a special investigation team (SIT) of the CID, the police said. The SIT said in a press note here on Monday that Farooq, whose real name is Moideen Abdul Kader, was nabbed at Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district.Top
