25 pilgrims die in accident
SITAMARHI, Aug 14 (PTI) — Twentyfive pilgrims were killed and 15 seriously injured when a bus overturned and plunged into a 25-feet-deep ditch near Janar village on the Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi road, near here last night, official sources said today. Sitamarhi District Magistrate R.N. Prasad said the accident took place when the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp bend.

Hazare hospitalised
PUNE, Aug 14 (PTI) — Noted social worker and anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Sassoon hospital here early today following fluctuations in his blood pressure on the sixth day of his fast. Hazare, who is on fast as part of his "atma chintan" (introspection) and "atmaklesh" (self-mortification) since August 9 at Alandi — samadhisthal of Sant Dyaneshwar — was rushed to the hospital by District Collector Vijaykumar Gautam at 2.30 hours.

Food poisoning
DHAMTARI, Aug 14 (UNI) — Two minor girls died and two children of the same family were taken seriously ill here today due to suspected food poisoning. According to hospital sources, all four children of Rajesh Satnami, aged between one and four, showed symptoms of food poisoning after consuming chapati made of rice this morning. His two daughters, Sangeeta (4) and Mogli (2) died at the hospital. The condition of his two sons aged one and three, was reported to be serious.

Suharto in ICU
JAKARTA, Aug 14 (Reuters) — Indonesia's former President Suharto was rushed to hospital today for emergency treatment after he was diagnosed with a bleeding intestine, doctors treating him said. Hospital workers earlier said he had suffered a second stroke. Hospital sources said Mr Suharto was in intensive care. Doctor Ibrahim Ginting said in a statement that Mr Suharto was stable but needed further checks and treatment.

Officers stripped
KHARGAON (MP), Aug 14 (PTI) — At least 100 persons went on the rampage last night and "stripped" four rehabilitation officers, razed to the ground two school buildings and a panchayat bhavan under construction at the rehabilitation site of Bahegaon village, 16 km from here, the police said today. The mob, which came around 11.30 p.m. last night, wearing masks, first "stripped" the rehabilitation officers and beat them up after locking them in a makeshift room, the police said.
