36 Ranvir Sena activists held
GAYA, April 24 (PTI) — As many as 36 activists of the outlawed Ranvir Sena have been arrested from various places in central Bihar in connection with the slaughter of 12 persons in Gaya district on Wednesday, the police said here today. The Inspector-General of Police (Central Range, Patna) said the police raided several hideouts of the sena in extremist-hit Bhojpur, Rohtas Arwal, Gaya and Aurangabad district to make the arrest.

46 killed in Mexico
TUXTLA GUTIERREZ (Mexico) April 24 (AFP) — At least 46 persons were killed and nine injured yesterday when a cargo truck carrying passengers crashed into a ravine in the southern state of Chiapas, officials said today. The accident took place in Amatenango de La Frontera, and occurred around 2000 GMT, Chiapas Governor Roberto Albores told a Press conference here. The victims include 26 minors, including two newborns.

Israeli warplanes
NABATIYEH (Lebanon), April 24 (Reuters) — Israeli warplanes have attacked suspected Hizbollah positions in South Lebanon, security sources and witnesses said today. Witnesses and a security sources said Israeli planes fired about eight rockets on Iqlim al-Toufah, just north of the 15-km deep zone Israel occupies in South Lebanon.

10 LTTE men killed
COLOMBO, April 24 (PTI) — At least 10 LTTE guerrillas were killed yesterday when Sri Lankan troops attacked the rebels at different places, an army press note said here today. It said five militants were mowed down when soldiers pounced on a group of LTTE men at Tadduvankoddi in northern Jaffna.

KATHMANDU, April 24 (UNI) — With this vital organs slowly deteriorating, former Prime Minister and President of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxists-Leninists) Manmohan Adhikary remained hooked to life-support systems battling for life in a hospital here for the sixth day today. Doctors attending on him said his kidneys had become "completely dysfunctional" but his heart beat and respiration were being maintained.

5 massacred
KAMPALA, April 24 (DPA) – Guerrillas battling the Ugandan Government forces in the western region yesterday massacred five persons and left three others with serious injuries, reports from the war-ravaged region said today. Allied Democratic Forces rebels attacked in a village near Bundibugyo town, 380 km west of Kampala, yesterday.

BJP walkout
JAIPUR, April 24 (PTI) — Opposition BJP members today staged a walkout in the Rajasthan Assembly protesting against the new irrigation tax structure announced by the state government. A number of BJP legislators also raised objections to the irrigation tax slabs which they called "inappropriate and unjustified."
