AMBALA Reservation system
The computerised reservation system at the
railway station here remained suspended till 3
p.m. on Saturday. The problem occurred on Friday
after a cable was damaged due to digging by
workers of a company which had undertaken the
project of four-laning of the National Highway 1.
The reservation at the Patiala railway station
was also affected.
Halt timing
The Swaran Jayanti Shatabdi train from Amritsar
to New Delhi will halt for two minutes at the
railway station here with effect from October 2.
This was stated by a spokesman of the railways.
Booked
The police has booked Pawan Kumar on the charge
of murdering Mr Shamsher Singh of Humanyupur
village under the Naggal police station on
Friday. Enmity is said to be the cause of the
crime. A case under Section 302 of the IPC has
been registered.
Appointed
Dr Harbans Lal, an MLA from Sirhind, has been
appointed president of the Punjab unit of the
National Human Rights Protection Council by Dr
Viresh Shandliya, National President of the
Council.
FATEHABAD
Suicide
Saroj, a teenaged girl from Ahlisadar village in
the district, has allegedly committed suicide by
consuming pesticide. According to reports, she
had an altercation with her sister which led to
the suicide.

Sewing
machines
Mr Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Deputy Commissioner,
distributed 180 sewing machines to women
belonging to backward classes. He also
distributed cheques of Rs 10,000 each to 11 women
of backward classes for the marriage of their
daughters.
Convicted
The Additional Sessions Judge, R. K. Bishnoi here
has sentenced Kishan Chand of Pachgaon village,
to undergo three and half years rigorous
imprisonment on the charge of inflicting serious
injuries on Mukesh of the same village. The court
acquitted Joginder and Satbir of the charge
giving them the benefit of the doubt. The court
also fined of Kishan Chand Rs 5000.

HISAR
Scooterists
killed
Two
persons were killed when the scooter they were
travelling by collided with a Haryana Roadways
bus near Bithmara village, 40 km from here on the
Hisar-Tohana road on Saturday. The deceased have
been identified as Rati Ram, a resident of Dhani
Jaidev, Hisar and his worker.

Gang
busted
The district police has busted a gang of thieves
here with the arrest of Jagdish, Satish and Bhola
Ram. Mr Ranbir Sharma, Superintendent of Police,
said here on Saturday that the police recovered
three televisions sets, ornaments, one revolver,
some cartridges and other household goods from
them.
Arrested
The police arrested Santosh Gupta, a retired
principal of a government school, for allegedly
attempting to molest a girl here on Friday. A
case under Sections 292, 294 and 509 of the IPC
has been registered.
ROHTAK
Rape
A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Kanwar
Singh, a Haryana Roadways employee, at the Hari
Singh locality here, a few days back. According
to a complaint lodged by the victim, the accused,
a friend of her father, had come to her house on
September 17 when her parents had gone to their
native village and committed the crime. A case
under Section 376 of the IPC has been registered.
Doctor held
A doctor of the civil hospital at Bahadurgarh
town in Jhajjar district was arrested on Saturday
morning for causing hindrance in the performance
of official duty. As a result other doctors of
the hospital went on an indefinite strike in
protest against the police action. The doctor who
was on night duty and manhandled a constable of
the Haryana Police who had come along with a
witness of a case to get his medical check up
done. The doctor allegedly misbehaved, abused and
even manhandled the cop. The police booked the
doctor under Sections 355 and 186 of the IPC and
arrested the doctor on Saturday morning.
SONEPAT
Shot At
Vikki, a local resident, was shot at by certain
armed youths in Sector 14, a residential colony
of the HUDA, on Saturday. He is stated to be out
of danger. A case has been registered.
Thefts
Resentment prevails among residents of the
Mahabir colony and its surrounding areas against
a spate of thefts committed by a gang of thieves
in the past two weeks. The residents urged the
Superintendent of Police to order night
patrolling by the police in a bid to check such
thefts.
YAMUNANAGAR
Lok Adalat
A Lok Adalat was held at the Jagadhri court on
Saturday which was presided over by Mr C.B.
Jaglian, Additional District and Sessions Judge.
As many as 519 cases were settled at the adalat.
