Hospital inaugurated
Mr S.V. Goel, DIG, Border Range, inaugurated a small hospital having primary medical facilities on Saturday. It will cater to the families of police personnel living there.
Rape
A 17-year-old girl, daughter of a truck driver here, lodged a complaint at the Civil Lines police station here on Friday, alleging that Vijay Kumar, a resident of Bhandari Mohalla, raped her on September 8.

Fake certificate
Rajnish Kumar, a doctor at a local hospital, has been arrested for allegedly taking Rs 4,000 from a patient for preparing a fake certificate. This was stated by the DSP, Vigilance, here on Sunday.

Theft
A bag containing cash was stolen from the scooter of Mr Ashwani Kumar, a goods trader of Jalandhar at the local Railway Road on Saturday.
Vikas week
The Bharat Vikas Parishad launched a "vikas week" on Saturday in which a seminar on personal insurance was held. A school welfare programme, medical check-up of students, sketch of national heroes, rangoli and a quiz will be the other highlights of the week.

Nutrition day
A nutrition day was celebrated at Rajewal village on Saturday. It was presided over by the Block Development Project Officer here. The local SDM, Mr Sanjay Popli, was the chief guest.
Salaries not paid
The chowkidars of the tehsil have not been paid their salaries since July 1. The secretary of the Samrala Patwar Union gave an ultimatum to the Punjab Government that if the chowkidars were not paid by October 1, they would submit their resignations.

HISAR

Sentenced
Additional District and Sessions Judge A.K. Ragav on Saturday sentenced Man Singh of Thakarwala village in Rajasthan to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment for smuggling opium. The judge also fined him Rs 1 lakh under the NDPS Act.

JIND

Scheme formulated
Mr Tarun Bajaj, Deputy Commissioner, on Saturday said that the Public Health Department had formulated a scheme to dispose of sullage water from the town. He said under the scheme a drain would be constructed from Jind to Sangatpura village at a cost of Rs 50 lakh.

SIRSA

LPG connections
Mr Om Parkash Mahajan, Health Minister, Haryana , said all LPG connections of the district would be checked to counter malpractices and alleged black marketing of LPG cylinders. He was speaking at a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievances Redressal Committee at the local Panchayat Bhavan on Friday.
Attacked
Sohan Singh of Firozabad village was seriously injured when he was allegedly attacked by Bachhan Singh with a pistol. The victim was the brother of the wife of Bachhan Singh. The cause of the crime is not known.
Case registered
Cases under Sections 379 and 430, IPC, against 10 farmers of Mangala village and against four farmers of Shahpurbegu village have been registered by the police here on Friday. The Subdivisional Officer of the local Irrigation Department alleged that they had been indulging in the theft of irrigation water.
Succumbed
Sukhchain Singh (75) succumbed to his injuries at the local Civil Hospital on Friday. The deceased along with two others was admitted to hospital in a serious condition two days back when their Maruti car was hit by a bus near Jiwan Nagar chowk in the district. A case has been registered against the bus driver.
Thieves arrested
The police has recovered ornaments from Vijay Kumar and Naresh Kumar. The accused had allegedly robbed Ms Rajbala, wife of a local goldsmith, in Mandi Dabwali, when she was alone in her house. Their two accomplices have also been identified.
Body found
Om Parkash, a middle-aged man of Bhuna village in the district, was found dead near Government School, at Begu village on Saturday. According to sources, he used to visit his in-laws in the village.
Strangled
Birpal Kaur, alias Palo, of Ganga village in the district was allegedly strangled at her house on Friday. According to sources, she was reportedly beaten up by her husband. A case has been registered under Section 302, IPC, against Devi Lal, her husband, on a complaint of Jagga Singh, a chowkidar.
Dead
Davender Singh (22) of local Kirti Nagar died at Civil Hospital here on Saturday. According to sources, he had allegedly consumed poison on Thursday. The cause of the suicide was stated to be poverty as he had been unemployed for quite some time.
Nabbed
Bhira and Balwan, alias Pappu, both suspected thieves, were arrested on Saturday from the local bus stand. According to sources, the accused had allegedly stolen ornaments from Lakha Singh, a farmer of Dhani village.

Camp
Mr S.R. Thakur, Additional District Magistrate, said here on Saturday that due to the difficulties faced by people of Ani subdivision of the district in getting and renewing arms licences, a camp would be organised on the 21st of every month at the Subdivisional Magistrate’s office, Ani.

NURPUR

Vacant posts
Though Government High School, Ondh, was upgraded from the middle standard in January, the posts of headmaster, two teachers and other staff have not been filled yet. Villagers said the previous government had already sanctioned the posts.
