MOGA

Kisan mela: A kisan mela was inaugurated here on Friday. The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Kulbir Singh Kang, was the chief guest. A large number of farmers visited the mela.

One killed: One person was killed and five others were injured when a three-wheeler in which they were travelling was involved in a collision with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Ghaalkalan village on the Moga-Ferozepore road on Thursday.

Tercentenary celebrations: A sum of Rs 150 crore will be spent on various development works at Anandpur Sahib, according to Mr G.S. Cheema, Chief Administrator, Development, Anandpur Sahib. He was here to attend a meeting to review the progress of development works being carried out on the eve of tercentenary celebrations.

Sangat darshan: The Deputy Commissioner, Dr Roshan Sunkaria, organised a sangat darshan at Bhaddi village on Friday. A number of complaints were redressed on the spot. The DC said Rs 30 lakh would be spent on solving drinking water problem and maintenance of roads in the Kandi area.

Viswa Karma Samaroh: The local Shri Viswa Karma Mandir Sabha will organise Shri Viswa Karma samaroh on the temple premises, on Tuesday. Sewing machines and clothes will be distributed among the poor. Kirtan will be held by Kapil Bandhus and Gopal Ji Maharaj. Pyara Singh and Mr Mata Ram Dhiman will be chief guests. FATEHABAD

Resentment: Resentment prevails among residents of the DSP Road, Rajiv Gandhi Park over the frequent voltage fluctuations in their localities. According to Mr Ram Raj Mehta, a resident, officials of the Haryana Vidyut Parsaran Nigam have turned a blind eye to their problem.

Traffic week: The district administration has decided to celebrate the "Traffic Week" from November 1 to 7 to make the people aware about road safety. This was decided at a meeting on road safety measures held here on Saturday.

ROHTAK

Challaned: The Regional Transport Authority has challaned 32,000 unauthorised vehicles and collected Rs 4 crore as fine in first six months of this year, according to Mr Jai Singh Sangwan, Secretary, RTA. He said maximum amount of fine was collected from Rohtak district.

Case registered: The police registered a case against Surender, a resident of Rohad village in this district, on Thursday for allegedly abducting a girl of the same village.

Function: The local Agarsain school organised its annual prize distribution function here on Thursday. Mr Lachman Dass Arora, a former Haryana Minister, presided over the function and distributed the prizes among students.

Two arrested: The local police has arrested two proclaimed offenders, Surjeet Kaur, and Jan Mohamad, alias Janni, according to Mr B.S. Sandhu, SSP. He said during a campaign as many as 20 proclaimed offenders had been arrested.

Freedom fighter dead: Mr Rattan Dev, a veteran freedom fighter, died on Tuesday at Kundli village in this district.top

Announced: A sum of Rs 558 crore will be spent on the uplift of the poor and weaker sections of the society in the state under "upliftment programme" during this year, Mr Rikhi Ram Kondal, Himachal Minister of State for Cooperatives, said here on Friday at Thurran village.

Fire-crackers: The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Rakesh Kaushal, has directed the Sub Divisional Magistrates of Nahan, Paonta Sahib and Rajgarh to allot separate places for the sale of fire-crackers.
