Emotional
Bandhan

By Madhur Mittal

THE release of the film Bandhan has created quite a buzz in Bollywood. Considering the terrific initial box office collections, most filmmakers are busy using the airtime over their celtels... asking and arguing as to what is making viewers flock to the cinema houses in droves!

Well, perhaps, the first credit should rightfully go to director Murlimanohar Rao — one of the (very) top names down South. He has, believe it nor not, made a movie which has all the entertainment effects, but sans the gore and violence so typical of today’s turnouts. For, Bandhan relies on the ‘bandhan’ of emotional, deeply senti family bonds. Plus the ripples of romance — between Salman Khan and Rambha (remember them in Judwaa?) and between Jackie Shroff and Ashwini Bhave.

Twinkle Tinkles

It sure was a bingo bash when none other than Bollywood’s bigbabe, Twinkle Khanna, kicked of the disco dandiya dance competition at the mid-day celebrative presentation. And boy, was the venue teeming with teenagers!

Inevitably, Twinkle was (rather) late in arriving... but that sure didn’t stop the thousands of dance-lusty guys ‘n’ gals from starting the show off on their own! Of course, when eventually, Twinkle did show up and a big roar went up from the huge crowd, the pretty lady wasted no time and joined right in with the movers. In fact, it must have been over an hour that Twinkle tinkled non-stop....!

Yes, definitely a toofani dandiya ... considering it was ‘coolly’ co-sponsored by Thums Up!

No dwarf she!

The same evening, Urmila Matondkar had fans crowding her, too... but at an entirely different venue and function. You see, Giants International were honouring some of Mumbai’s ‘giants’ for their great, individual achievments in their respective workfields. And from the film industry, those selected included Dharmendra, Jagjit Singh and apni Urmila!

Clad in a tightfitting, body-hugging leather jeans and matching black jacket, Ms Matondkar immediately made all the (VIP) invitees and guests almost literally jump to their feet! And they reserved the most thunderous applause when she received her trophy — to the drumbeats of (you guessed it) Ho Ja Rangeela!

Surrounded by ‘giants’, Urmi proved easily that she ain’t no dwarf, either!!!

Rumour Has It...

... that all the theatres where Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is to be screened are being specially renovated and fitted with the latest techno sound systems.

... that Anu Malik will not accept any awards henceforth as he feels that his superiority and greatness of "genuine talent, the best" has already been proved beyond any doubt!!!
