India, Pakistan fail to work out modalities
for talks

COLOMBO, July 30 (PTI, UNI) — India and Pakistan today failed to work out the modalities for resuming bilateral Foreign Secretary-level talks, grounded since last September, but decided to continue discussions tomorrow.The two foreign secretaries burnt the proverbial midnight oil yesterday.

COLOMBO, July 30 — The warmth displayed by the two prime ministers during the bilateral meeting yesterday has not resulted in a discernible thawing of Indo-Pakistan relations.

NEW DELHI, July 30 — A Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court today issued notices to the Centre and advocates-general of all states and union territories while beginning hearing on the presidential reference raising doubts over the procedure involving the consultation process on the appointment of judges to the apex court and high courts and their transfers.

CM interviews youth for jobs
PATHRI KALAN (Amritsar) July 30 — It was a rare occasion for the educated youth of this sleepy village and adjoining hamlets along the Indo-Pakistan border.
Where once militants ruled the roost, Punjab Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal himself interviewed the youth for various self-employed schemes today.
