KURALI
Dead: Mrs Chanan Kaur, mother of the President of the Kurali Municipal Council and wife of former President of the Ropar District Congress, Mr Kanshi Ram, died on Tuesday. The funeral will take place on Wednesday.

LUDHIANA
Agitation: The Ministerial Staff Association of Punjab Roadways, has threatend to launch an agitation in protest against the non-acceptance of its demands. This decision was taken at a meeting of the association here on Monday.

PATIALA
Installed: Statues of the Lord Krishna, Hanuman and Bhole Nath have been installed at Gau Mata Ashram, Arain Majra, here after a three-day religious function, according to Mr Hans Raj Bhardwaj, a member of the ashram, on Monday.
Marriages: The Satya Kaur Sabha, the Gayatri Parivar Trust and the Lions Club (Kila Mubarak) solemnised marriages of six poor girls at a joint function here. Mr Parampal Singh Sidhu, SSP, was present on the occasion.
Honoured: Dr B.N. Diwvedi has been honoured with an award of Vishav Jyoti Maharishi by Mr B. Satyanarayan Reddy, a former Governor, at the International Astrological conference organised by the International Council for Human Welfare at Delhi.
Resentment: The Sub Station Staff Technical Union of the PSEB has threatened to launch an agitation in protest against the non-acceptance of its demands which include grant of risk allowance. The General Secretary of the union, Mr Harjit Singh Sethi, has also demanded shift allowance for the Sub Station Officers.

PHILLAUR
Course inaugurated: A course on “Inspection and supervision” for gazetted officers was started on Monday at the Punjab Police Academy. Mr Sarabjit Singh, ADGP-cum-Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, inaugurated the course. The course is related with the police practical working and study of the Punjab Police Rules.

Disaffiliated: The Divine Life Society has cancelled the affiliation of the society's Chandigarh branch in Sector 23. According to a press note here on Tuesday, no person is authorised to act as president or any other office-bearer of the society.
Flayed: The Chandigarh Periphery Milkmen Union has flayed the setting up of the Punjab Dairy Development Board. Mr Bhagat Singh, Secretary of the union, said at a meeting held here on Tuesday that a dharna would be held on December 23 in this regard.
Registrar dead: Mr Girdhari Lal Ahuja, Assistant Registrar (Accounts), Panjab University, passed away on Tuesday following a heart attack. He was 59. The funeral procession will be held on Wednesday.
Library staff:
The following have been elected office-bearers of the Panjab University Library Staff Association: President — Mr Kulwant Singh; Vice-President — Mr M.S. Deogan, Secretary — Mr GS Thakar; and Treasurer — Ms Neelam Sharma.
6 sustain burns:
As many as six persons sustained burns when a cooking gas cylinder burst in a servant quarter at Sector 24 here on Tuesday. The injured are Ram Tirath, his wife Prabati, their three children and Shyama.

AMBALA
Employment week: The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr Hawa Singh Dhankar, inaugurated the employment week here on Monday. An exhibition was also opened on the occasion. The Divisional Employment Officer, Mr H.S. Dhull, said as many as 6,000 persons had been registered with the employment exchange.

BHIWANI
Arrested: The police has arrested some persons on a charge of stealing old answer books from the godown of the Board of School Education, Haryana. The matter was reported to the police.
Eye camps:
The district administration is organising eye camps in the district under the National Blindness Eradication Programme, Mr K.S Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, said here on Tuesday. The camp will be organised at Banla village on December 16, at Kadma village from December 17 to 18, at Tosham village from December 22 to 23. The specialists of the local Krishan Lal Jalan Government Eye Hospital, will check the patients and conduct cataract operations. Free Medicines and spectacles will be given to patients.

FARIDABAD
Five arrested: The police on Sunday claimed to have foiled an attempt to loot morning walkers at the Rose Garden in Sector 17 by arresting five persons. A police spokesman said, two stolen motor cycles, one .12 bore country-made pistol, one spring knife and iron rods were seized from them.

GURGAON
constructed: The Mewat Development Agency, Nuh, has constructed 418 houses for government employees, according to Mr M.K Middha, Chief Executive Officer of the agency. Mr Middha said the houses had been constructed at Nuh, Ferozepur Jhirka, Nagina, Hathin and Punhana.

SIRSA
Cyclist injured: Dalip Singh (25), a farmer of Mangalia village in this district, was injured when his cycle collided with a jeep near village on Monday. He was admitted to hospital.
Attacked: Mrs Tajo Bai (35), wife of Mr Darshan Singh, was injured when she was allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons by Major Singh, brother of her husband, here on Monday. The matter has been reported to the police.
Open darbar: A open darbar was held at Patwar Bhavan here on Monday. As many as 35 complaints were received in the darbar. Many of the complaints were settled on the spot. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr Arun Gupta, was present on the occasion. He said the next darbar would be held on Monday.
Procession: Members of the Uttar Railway Mazdoor Sangh, Sirsa unit, held a procession on Monday in protest against the non-implementation of their demands, which include removal of anomalies in pay structure and improvement in transfer policy.
One arrested: Pawan Kumar, a shopkeeper, was injured when he was allegedly beaten by three miscreants at Bhadra Bazar here on Monday. One of the accused was reportedly taken into custody.

SONEPAT
Case registered: The police has registered a case of fraud against Kewal Singh, a police constable of Baroda village in this district, for allegedly submitting a fake certificate of his educational qualifications. Mr K. Selvraj, SP, said here on Monday that the number of such cases registered had gone up to three. However, no arrest has been made in this connection.
Resentment: Resentment prevails among LPG consumers over the supply of underweight gas cylinders by certain dealers in the city. The consumers allege that even some dealers are selling the cylinders in the black market.
Arrested:
The Ganaur police has arrested Howa Singh and Randhir of Mahmoodpur Majra village for allegedly stealing six bags of paddy from the house of Mr Karan Singh, a resident of the same village.
Five arrested: The police on Monday claimed to have foiled an attempt by five armed men to commit a dacoity in the house of Mr Randhir, a former chairman of a semi-government body, and arrested them during a raid, Mr K. Selvraj, SP said. The police had seized a stolen Maruti car, two country-made pistols, a revolver and four cartridges from them.
Power theft: Officials of the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam has detected as many as 158 cases of power theft in the Sonepat division. Mr S.K. Handa, Superintending Engineer, Operation, told mediapersons here on Monday that the officials had checked as many as 503 premises during the campaign and a penalty of Rs 8.97 lakh was recovered from the defaulters.

KULU
Police remand: The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate on Sunday remanded Nanak Chand and Dina Nath in police custody till December 18. The two were arrested on a charge of murdering Tara Chand, a resident of Benchi village, a few days ago.

SOLAN
Rally: Activists of the Congress held a rally on the Pinjore-Nalagarh road at Baddi on Monday in protest against the failure of the government to maintain law and order in the state.
