Suicide
Sarabjit Kaur (24), a resident of Dhunkia village of Jalalabad subdivision, allegedly committed suicide on Sunday evening the consuming some insecticide. She was married about two years ago and had reportedly been in bad health for about 10 years. She ended her life in a fit of depression.
Foundation stone
Mr Zora Singh Mann, MP, laid the foundation stone of the additional yard of the village focal point at Rana village on Sunday evening. He also inaugurated round-the-clock electric supply to the focal point at a function organised by Mr Karan Gilhotra, sarpanch of the village.

Medical camp
A "matri suraksha abhiyan" was organised by the UT Health Department in association with the Citizens Awareness Group at the civil dispensary in Dhanas village on Monday. As many as 86 pregnant and 90 lactating women were examined.top

BHIWANI

Irrigation
Mr Surender Singh, MP and general secretary of the Haryana Vikas Party, while addressing two public meetings at Naloi and Bhera villages in this district on Saturday said that NABARD had come forward to give financial help worth Rs 103 crore to the Haryana Government for improving irrigation facilities in the state. With these funds, 98 new minors and two big drains would be constructed.
Camps
The district administration has decided to organise free ayurvedic treatment camps in major villages in the district. Disclosing this to mediapersons here on Sunday, the Deputy Commissioner said a free camp was held at Tosham on Saturday on the municipal campus. About 950 patients from the neighbouring villages were treated and given ayurvedic medicines free of cost.
Installation
The Lions Club organised a charter nite and installation ceremony at Panchayat Bhavan here on Sunday. Lion Rakesh Jain, district governor installed Lion Surender Jain as the new president of the club for 1998-99.
Murderers
The officers of the Bhiwani Textile Mills overpowered the six persons suspected of murdering Mrs Praveena Toshniwal here on Wednesday night and handed them over to the police. Those arrested are Kamal Singh, Harpal, Vanadev Gardner, Surjeev, Dhanvan and Pappu. A case under Sections 396 and 460 of the IPC has been registered.
Lions Club
Mr Brijlal Saraf, a philanthropist of the city, was welcomed at the installation ceremony of the district Press Club, Bhiwani. He was presented with a memento. Mr Ram Bhagat Langyan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, was the chief guest.

FATEHABAD

Demanded
The Haryana Kisan Sabha has expressed concern at the deteriorating power and water situation in the state and has urged the government to take steps to improve it. In a press release issued here on Monday, Mr Kishan Swaroop, general secretary of the sabha, said that it might cause damage to crops. He demanded that the government should ensure at least 12 hours of power supply daily to the farmers and water supply at the tail ends of the canals and distributaries.
Rafi songs
The Surbhi Kala Manch organised "Yaadgar-e-Mohammad Rafi", a programme of songs sung by the legendary playback singer. Up and coming singers from the town and the surrounding areas sang Rafi numbers. The municipal president, Mr Bhim Sen, was the chief guest, while Mr Narender Choudhary, manager of the local branch of Punjab and Sind Bank, presided over the function.

HISAR

Suicide
Sukhjinder Singh of Kaul village in Kurukshetra district allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Kharad village, near here, on Sunday. The deceased was working in a liquor shop in the village. His body has been sent for a post mortem.
Killed
One person was killed and two others, including the driver, were injured when a car in which they were travelling crashed into a tree near Matana village on the Hisar-Sirsa road on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Balbir Singh.

Dental check-up camp
The Haryana branch of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) launched a programme "Smile for all-national oral health" for students at Hans Raj Public School in Sector 6 on Monday. Dental surgeons will examine over 20,000 students of different local school under the programme.

SONEPAT

Health camp
About 2,200 students were examined and treated at a free medical camp organised by Jain Milan, a social and religious organisation, at Vivekanand Girls Senior Secondary School, here on Sunday. A team of specialists, headed by Dr R.N. Sachdeva, examined the students.top

Slaughter house
Residents of this town have demanded that a licensed slaughter house be set up here. They have also sought regular medical examination of the meat sold. They complain that the meat sold here is not tested and is substandard.

NAHAN

Tourist complex
The Lok Shakti Sangathan reminded the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Kumar Dhumal, of his promise to construct a tourist complex at Nahan and lay the foundation stone of the complex on August 15. Mr Brij Bhushan Lal, general secretary of the sangathan, regretted that the district did not have any facilities to attract tourists.
Pharmacist arrested
Sadan Goswami, a pharmacist working in a private clinic, here was arrested on Monday on a charge of carelessly administering a medicine to Madan Lal, a peon working in Navodya School, which resulted in his death. A case under Section 304 of the IPC has been registered.

NURPUR

Theft
Burglars broke into a watch shop at Jasur, near here, on Thursday night and decamped with a number of watches. The police has registered a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC.top
