PATNA, July
31 (PTI) The Centre today submitted to the Patna
High Court duplicate copies of report of the Dorai
Committee that probed CBI officials seeking army help to
execute arrest warrant against RJD president Laloo Prasad
Yadav in a conspiracy angle case of the fodder scam last
year. The Bench, comprising Mr Justice S.N. Jha and Mr
Justice S.J. Mukhopadhyay said they would go through the
report and "take action if any remarks against us
are found in it". The court fixed August 28 as next
date for hearing.Netaji
Award
CALCUTTA,
July 31 (PTI) Former Prime Minister Chandra
Shekhar will be given this year's Netaji Award for his
contribution to communal harmony, peace and national
integration. This was decided at the executive meeting of
the World Peace and Friendship Society in association
with the Netaji birthday celebration committee, which is
sponsoring the award. The award would be presented to Mr
Chandra Shekhar in September, society's general secretary
S.K. Agarwal said today.
50 hurt in clash
MADURAI, July
31 (PTI) About 50 persons including six policemen,
were injured today when a 300-strong mob belonging to a
particular community clashed with the police near here.
The police lobbed teargas shells and resorted to a lathi
charge to quell the mob at Srivilliputhur town in
Virudhunagar district who were demanding the revocation
of the Protection of Civil Rights Act. About 60 persons
were arrested the police said.

NAINITAL,
July 31 (PTI) A two-day strike beginning from
August 1 has been called by several organisations
demanding the creation of a separate hill state.
Uttaranchal the strike is supported by some students
unions, Vyapar mandals and trade unions. Meanwhile the
district administration has taken necessary steps to
maintain law and order during the strike period.
Students on
rampage
NEW DELHI,
July 31 (PTI) Activists of the All India
Revolutionary Students Federation (AIRSF) ransacked the
legal cell of Andhra Pradesh Bhavan here today in protest
against the death of one of their comrades Janardhan,
alias Vinoy, in Hyderabad on July 25 allegedly in a
police encounter. About 40 to 50 students entered the
building adjacent to the main bhavan and smashed window
panes, wind screen of Chief Minister's pilot gypsy and
ransacked the files in the legal section.
Anti-mine vehicles
NEW DELHI,
July 31 (PTI) India will buy 90 anti-mine vehicles
from South Africa to deal with militants and insurgents
in Kashmir and North-East and will shortly sign an
agreement with Pretoria for defence cooperation. Talking
to newspersons here today, the Chief of the Army Staff,
Gen V.P. Malik, who was on a week-long visit to South
Africa, said the deal to purchase these vehicles was
finalised during his tour.
Ceasefire extended
NEW DELHI,
July 31 (UNI) The ceasefire in Nagaland has been
extended for one more year, Home Minister L.K. Advani
informed the Lok Sabha today. The Centre and the NSCN had
mutually agreed to extend the ceasefire for one year from
tomorrow to find a solution to the ongoing insurgency in
the state, he said. The ground rules of the dialogue
would be followed during the ceasefire.
Coach murder: one
more arrested

ROHTAK, July
31 The police has arrested one more youth in
connection with the Devender Coach murder case. The total
number of arrests in connection with the murder of a
former student leader and activist of the Haryana Vikas
Party has reached six.
The accused identified as Rakesh of Kailash Colony has
been sent to one-day police custody. All the other
suspects are already in judicial custody. It may be
recalled that Coach was murdered on May 26 in the
Maharshi Dayanand University campus.
Meanwhile, the police has registered a case against
"a doctor practising illegally" at Labour Chowk
here.
