Alter, Lucky Ali and comedian Khayali will present plethora of programmes during the Winterline Carnival from December 25 to December 31 in Mussoorie.

MLA Ganesh Joshi, vice-president of the Winterline Carnival organising committee, organised a meeting with the District Magistrate at the DM office yesterday.

The members of the committee deliberated on making the carnival a success.

He said a mass scale of publicity would be done to bring in the tourists from various parts of the country. He said football events would be conducted on December 27 and 28.

A half marathon for men’s and cross country race for children would also be organised on the occasion.

The district administration has come out with a list of programmes to be held during the carnival. It was also decided to charge tickets from the tourists during the event.

The tariff for the tickets will be Rs 300 for couples, Rs 500 and Rs 1,500 for those coming to see the events on all the days.

Meanwhile, the statehood agitators are miffed at the administration for neglecting the regional artistes and demanded to stop the carnival. Many residents felt that the period between December 25 and 31 was a rush period due to New Year festivities and conducting carnival during this period was not a good decision.

Social Activist Ajay Uniyal said a lot of irregularities occurred during the last year’s carnival and such events should not be organised.
