Chandigarh, December 19

The police have nabbed a mother-daughter duo for carrying out two thefts on Thursday night.

The two were caught on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera committing the crime at a jewellery shop in Sector 35, before stealing gold earrings worth Rs 30,000 from a Sector 19 shop.

The two suspects have been identified as Delhi-based Anju Devi and her daughter Geeta.

Rajan Kumar, owner of the Sector 35 shop, informed the police that the two women had escaped from his shop after stealing some jewellery. They were apprehended at some distance in the market.

One of the suspects was, reportedly, released on bail from the Sector 36 police station.

In another case, three Delhi-based women, Neelam, Sita and Kanta, and their male accomplice, Vikas, have been arrested for attempting to steal clothes from a showroom in Sector 9.
