Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders flayed Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s statement that the Prime Minister’s 10-page address on various issues would not bring any change and he would have to work at the ground level if he wanted to solve the issues.

Bathinda BJP (urban) president Parminder Goyal said the Chief Minister should first introspect as the state was performing poorly in all sectors under the present regime due to which MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal trailed by 30,000 votes from Bathinda in the last Lok Sabha elections. He also accused the government of large-scale corruption.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to the development of the whole country and he is loved by the countrymen,” he said. On the statement of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal that Modi should first ban production of drugs in the BJP-ruled states Rajasthan and Madya Pradesh, he said every state faced different issues and it was the duty of the state government to keep a vigil on the inter-state border.

He said the SAD had failed to curb the smuggling of drugs in the state. “As narcotics are being sold openly in the market, the government should arrest the big fish,” he said.

Bharatiya Jaanta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president Mohit Gupta said Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal could not blame other states and the state police had failed to keep a check on drug smuggling in the state.”He cannot save the police by blaming others,” he said.

He also condemn the attack on BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu. Mohit Gupta said about 5 lakh people had joined the party in its ongoing membership drive in the state.
