The Jagraon Police have failed to find any breakthrough in the sensational robbery incident in Jagraon in which some unidentified persons allegedly robbed more than Rs 11 lakh and a Honda Activa two-wheeler from two employees of a Jagraon-based trading firm more than one week ago.

The incident took place on the evening of December 6 in Chatti Gali locality situated on the Railway Road of Jagraon when two employees of Jagraon-based Luxmi Trading Company were going to handover the money to the family members of the owner of the company on a two-wheeler. The robbers attacked both employees of the trading company with sharp-edged weapons and fled from the scene along with the money and the two-wheeler after critically injuring both employees.

Though more than one week has passed since the incident, the police have failed to trace any of the accused. The police do not have any concrete information about the robbers who carried out this robbery.

So far, the police have only recovered a Honda Activa two-wheeler snatched by the alleged robbers along with the money from the employees during the robbery incident. This two-wheeler, belonging to the owner of the trading firm, was recovered by the local police near the fields of Kothe Khajooran village located on the outskirts of Jagraon a day after the incident.

The robbers were caught on a CCTV camera installed outside a private hospital located in the same locality where the incident took place. The hospital is located a stone’s throw away from the crime spot. The police have obtained the CCTV footage from the hospital’s camera.

According to sources in the Police Department, the CCTV footage revealed that the incident was carried out by three persons who had arrived there on two separate two-wheelers.

“After carrying out the robbery, the three accused fled from the crime scene on three separate two-wheelers, including Honda Activa they had snatched from the employees of the trading firm,” said the sources.

However, despite the presence of CCTV footage of the incident with the police, they have failed to trace the accused.

“It has been quite difficult for investigators to recognize the robbers from the CCTV camera footage because it was too dark at the time when the incident took place and the faces of the accused were not clearly visible,” said a police officer.

DSP Jagraon Surinder Kumar said the police had been extensively searching for the accused.

“Different teams of the police led by senior police officers are working overtime to solve the case and a massive manhunt has already been underway to trace the accused. We hope to crack the case soon and all accused involved in this robbery will be behind the bars,” said the DSP.
