Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run

A pedestrian died while another was hurt in two separate hit-and-run cases here on Sunday night.

A pedestrian died while another was hurt in two separate hit-and-run cases here on Sunday night.

Praveen Oli, a waiter, was reportedly hit by a speeding vehicle while he was walking his way home. The accident occurred on the road separating Sectors 14 and 15 at around 12.30 am. The victim was rushed to the PGI where doctors declared him brought dead. A case under Sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (endangering life) and 304-A (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)has been registered at the Sector 11 police station.

In another incident, an unidentified vehicle hit a pedestrian on the road dividing Sectors 47 and 48. The driver fled from the spot. A passerby informed the police and the victim was rushed to the PGI where he has been kept under observation. A case under Sections 279 and 337 of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 31 police station.
