Guest lecture
A guest lecture was organised on the topic ‘competencies required to get lucrative jobs in the corporate sector’ at the Apeejay Institute of Management in Jalandhar. Ahsanul Haq, president of the Jalandhar Management Association, and Sudhir Gera, vice-chairman of the JMA and director of the Kirlosker Gensets Ltd were the resource persons. The resource persons said, “It is not the dearth of jobs but the lack of competent professionals that is plaguing the present corporate environment. They invigorated the students to become self-motivated.” The resource persons said students should become aware of all the challenges in corporate sector and strive to equip themselves with the skill-set required to confront those challenges. Gera said, “There is a gap between the industry and the educational practices and pedagogy adopted in the institutions.” He emphasised that educational institutions should run certain programmes in sync with industrial houses. Dr Rajesh Bagga, director of the institute, thanked the resource persons and expressed that this programme has enlightened the students.
Annual day
The annual day of Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, was held. The day commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest R Venkat Ratnam, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jalandhar, Aditya Vijay Berlia, co-promoter and pro-chancellor of Apeejay Stya Group and joint secretary, Apeejay Education Society, and principal Madhu Sharma. The principal extended a formal welcome to the guests and read out the school report highlighting the achievements of the school. A presentation on the ‘indomitable spirit’ highlighting love and care to be showered on the differently abled children brought tears in everyone’s eyes. Thereafter, chief guest R Vankat Ratnam and Aditya Vijay Berlia gave away the prizes to the winners.
French class
Eleventh batch of French classes concluded at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya. Eight candidate, including college and school students, professionals, businessmen and housewives completed level I of French taught by Malek Quadri, a French teacher from Tunisia.—TNS
