New Delhi, February 12

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Gulf’s first temple in Abu Dhabi on February 14, a little under a month after he inaugurated the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The temple, made entirely of pink sandstone, is part of the BAPS Group’s chain of temples all over the world.

The inauguration of the temple will take place during PM Modi’s visit to the UAE which Qatar now added on after Doha dropped charges and released eight former Indian Navy men convicted allegedly on espionage charges.

The inauguration of the BAPS temple is a “key part” of Modi’s visit to the UAE during which he will also address the Indian community at an event in Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, said Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra on Monday.

“The inauguration of the BAPS temple is one of the key parts of PM Modi’s UAE visit...as per the information available right now, around 5,000 devotees are expected to visit the temple on that day,” he said. The temple has been built on a 27-acre plot granted on lease by President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
