Vice-Prez awards degrees to 400 at convocation

DEHRADUN:Emphasising on the importance of medical profession Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said there was no better service than the service of mankind.

Dehradun, December 5

Emphasising on the importance of medical profession Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said there was no better service than the service of mankind.

“Medicine is a noble profession and always remember when you serve patients, you are serving the entire humanity,” said Naidu in his convocation speech at the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) at Jolly Grant (Rishikesh).

He also said the goal of education was not employment alone, “Education widens our horizon, broadens our outlook and is also responsible for imbibing values,” he said. 

Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul said universities should become centres of knowledge and research,  A total of 400 students were awarded degrees by the Vice-President. Earlier, on his arrival at the Jolly Grant airport, the Vice-President was warmly received by Chief Minister TS Rawat, the Governor and senior officials of the state. — TNS
