The statehood activists and members of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) on Tuesday reached Bhararisain demanding that Gairsain be made the permanent capital of Uttarakhand.
Despite the presence of police force, the activists from the UKD managed to reach the Assembly building and raised slogans in support of Gairsain. Though the police tried to stop them at Divalikhal, several activists managed to break the security cordon and reached the Assembly buildings where they had altercation with the police.
“We have been agitating in support of making Gairsain the permanent capital of Uttarakhand but the government has been ignoring our demand,” said Sarita Purohit, general secretary of UKD.
Inside the Assembly, the opposition Congress continued to put pressure on the BJP government by demanding that it come clear on the issue. Villagers of Paradi village also reached Bhararisain demanding that government build road in their village.
