Rs 12 lakh, job to trader’s wife

DEHRADUN:The government has announced a financial assistance of Rs 12 lakh and promise of a job to Kamla Pandey, the wife of the deceased Prakash Pandey.

The government has announced a financial assistance of Rs 12 lakh and promise of a job to Kamla Pandey, the wife of the deceased Prakash Pandey. 

District Magistrate of Nainital DK Chaudhari, who visited the family, made the announcement, “An ex gratia assistance of Rs 12 lakh will be given to the family, out of which Rs 2 lakh will be given for their immediate expenses. We have also promised a job to his wife. Depending on the qualifications, she will be given a job on contractual or ad-hoc basis,” Chaudhari said.Family members of Pandey, according to reports, had refused to perform the last rites when the body was handed over to them in Haldwani last night. His last rites were performed in the morning after the family was assured of financial assistance and job by the DM who had been camping in Haldwani since last night. Yesterday, Leader of the Opposition Indira Hridayesh met the family members and said she would press for providing financial assistance to the family.  “Their financial condition is not good, the son is still studying, they need to be supported,” she said.  

Further, the government also ordered a magisterial probe into the death of Pandey by Additional District Magistrate VS Budhiyal. — TNS
