Leopards continue to prey on humans in Uttarakhand. In the latest incident, an eight-year-old boy was mauled by leopard in Pratapnagar area of Tehri district. The incident took place last night when Annu, son of Mahesh Panwar, was playing in the courtyard of his house when a leopard hiding nearby pounced upon him. The leopard tried to carry Annu into forests. Hearing his cries, the family members rushed to the spot following which the leopard fled from the scene leaving the critically injured Annu behind.

Annu was rushed to the nearby medical facility, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. Angry villagers have demanded immediate shooting down of the leopard. A little more than a week ago a woman was killed by the leopard in Nainital district. The woman had gone to collect fodder in forests, where she was mauled by the animal.
