Uttarakhand BJP today issued a show-cause notice to Khanpur BJP MLA Pranav Kumar Champion for publicly criticising Chief Minister TS Rawat and Cabinet ministers. He has been asked to respond to the show-cause notice within 10 days.

“Based on a prima-facie evidence, he has been found to have broken the discipline of the party. He has been issued a show-cause notice after investigation,” said state BJP secretary Naresh Bansal.

Recently, Champion had publicly criticised the CM’s style of functioning.

A maverick politician, Pranav Kumar Champion was among the Congress MLAs who had rebelled in 2016 against former CM Harish Rawat and later joined the BJP.

He had won the last Assembly elections on the BJP ticket. While still in the Congress, Champion had remained in news more for his antics and controversial statements.

Uttarakhand BJP chief Ajay Bhatt had entrusted senior party leader Naresh Bansal to examine the case. Since coming to power in the state last year, the BJP has served 60 show-cause notices to party leaders for indulging in anti-party activities. But, so far, the party has not taken any action as very few have responded to the notices.
