Dehradun, April 27
An elephant census will take place in Uttarakhand from May 23 to 27. The census will reveal the true figure of the population of elephants in the state.
The census will be carried out in 11 forest divisions, Corbett Tiger Reserve and Rajaji Tiger Reserve. A total of 400 personnel will be engaged in the census work that will be done through dung decay method. Most of these personnel will be from the state forest department, besides representatives from wildlife NGOs and experts from other parts of the country. — TNS
