Dehradun, April 20

Uttarakhand Police on Friday arrested Sukhvinder, alias Moni, gangster from Ludhiana who was allegedly involved in an ATM loot incident at Roorkie in Haridwar district.

Police, a few days ago, had arrested Sukhvinder’s accomplice Mintu. The duo after firing upon the guard had allegedly looted Rs 25 lakh from the Axis Bank ATM at BSM Chowk, Roorkie on April 7.

Acting on the leads, the police zeroed in on the gangster Sukhvinder, the main culprit, and came to know that he would be coming to Roorkie from the neighbouring Mujaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday morning.

The police laid a trap and succeeded in nabbing him. They recovered a pistol, a silver coloured motorcycle and some cash from his possession. Sources revealed that Sukhvinder had looted a bank in Punjab in 2011. He then carried a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head. He was arrested by the Punjab Police but somehow managed to flee and was absconding since then.
