Education of Factory Children.

THE question of education of children working in various factories in India should deserve special attention. Owing to the poverty of the working classes, they cannot afford to do without the small earnings of their children as soon as they are aged enough to do something for which the labour-market pays wages. But for this reason alone their education cannot be neglected as it is now done. In this connection we read that a satisfactory arrangement has been made in Bombay city, which, we hope, will be adopted in every other place where no arrangement has yet been made. At an interview between the Corporation Schools Committee, the Director of Public Instruction and three representatives of the Mill-owner's Association, Bombay, which took place during the year 1916 an arrangement was arrived at that the Schools Committee should open schools at places selected by the Mill-owners.
