BSF pip Punjab Police to win title

CHANDIGARH:It turned out to be a bad day for the local teams as FA Baddon defeated FA Mahilpur in the boys’ U-17 final, while Lyalpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, beat SGGS Khalsa College, Mahilpur, to win the title in the college category of the Principal Harbhajan Singh Memorial Football Tournament in Mahilpur today.

Chandigarh, February 21

It turned out to be a bad day for the local teams as FA Baddon defeated FA Mahilpur in the boys’ U-17 final, while Lyalpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, beat SGGS Khalsa College, Mahilpur, to win the title in the college category of the Principal Harbhajan Singh Memorial Football Tournament in Mahilpur today. 

In the club category, BSF, Jalandhar, edged out Punjab Police, Jalandhar, 2-1 to win the title. After a long barren period, Harvinder Singh opened the scoring for Punjab Police in the 72nd minute. It took BSF 10 minutes to find the equaliser, through Md. Asif. Vishal then found the winner for BSF in the 25th minute of extra time.

In the U-17 final, Amarpreet Singh scored the opening goal in the 20th minute, while Jaswinder Singh doubled the lead in the 39th minute as FA Baddon strolled to a 2-0 win. 

In the final of the college category, Lyalpur Khalsa College beat the local team 1-0, Manjit Singh scoring in the 22nd minute.
