Dubai, December 10
Aditi Ashok finished tied third in the Dubai Ladies Masters today, narrowly missing winning her third straight title on the Ladies European Tour (LET).
Aditi shot a 2-under 70 in the final round at the Emirates Golf Club today, finishing with a three-round total of a 6-under 210, the same as England’s Florentyna Parker. The tournament was won by Shanshan Feng of China at a 10-under 206. This was her fourth win here. The event was reduced to three rounds after the death of a caddie on the first day.
This was Aditi’s seventh top-10 finish in her first year as a pro golfer. The 18-year-old Bengaluru girl had finished tied-8th in China, tied-10th in France, tied-9th in Germany and tied-6th in Spain. She hit a purple patch last month when she became the first Indian woman to win an LET event, taking the Women’s Indian Open in New Delhi. She then went on to win her second title in Qatar.
Aditi dropped a bogey on the par-three 4th, following it with several pars before making her first birdie on the par-four 8th. Aditi had a much better back nine, with birdies on the par-five 10th, par-three 11th and par-four 17th holes to finish her round at 2-under.
This was Aditi’s first tournament after she earned limited playing rights on the LPGA Tour.
Shanshan Feng was brilliant, carding an 8-under 64 today. She started the day five shots behind overnight leader Felicity Johnson but went on to win by two shots ahead of Charley Hull. — PTI
