Chandigarh, January 15

State BJP president Sunil Jakhar said with demoralisation setting in rank and file of the Punjab Police, the state is going down the path of complete anarchy.

“Murders have been taking place with an alarming regularity in the state with the dispensation in deep slumber,” the BJP state chief said.

Speaking of the murder of Tarn Taran village sarpanch Sonu Cheema, Jakhar said while daily murders, extortions and kidnappings have made Punjabis numb with fear, the CM is in deep sleep and seems unperturbed. Incidents of murders and threats have become so commonplace that they have stopped affecting people, he added.

“Who would perceive our state positively when there are pictures and videos of jailed gangsters celebrating birthday parties with impunity?”Jakhar questioned.
