Prez to award 2 officers for poll practices

Faridkot, January 20

The Election Commission of India has selected two IAS officers of Punjab for the national award for best electoral practices.

These officers are Ravi Bhagat and Vipul Ujjwal —district electoral officers of Ludhiana and Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar during the 2017 Assembly elections in the state. The awards would be conferred upon the winners by the President at the national function of the National Voters Day in New Delhi on January 25.

In 2014 elections, they had invented user friendly application, which was made available on “Google Play Store”. It provided various election-related utility features, like searching EPIC details and finding directions to the one’s polling booth.

They have been selected for “innovative use of IT” in election management while performing their duty. — TNS
