Chandigarh: The state government has issued instructions to the civil surgeons to ensure the complete medical screening of students studying in government and government aided schools and those registered at anganwadi centres under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK). Disclosing this here on Tuesday, Minister for Health and Welfare Department Brahm Mohindra said the civil surgeons had also been instructed to issue healthcare cards to all children who were eligible to get free tertiary and healthcare services under the RBSK. He said the objective of the screening is to diagnose children up to 18 years for 4Ds - defects at birth, diseases, deficiencies and developmental delays, including disabilities. "Children diagnosed with illness would be provided free treatment including surgeries at the tertiary level," he added. TNS
