Amritsar, January 15

A group of Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) members, including the expelled ones, demanded Akal Takht and the SGPC to initiate action against former president Charanjit Singh Chadha, whose sleaze video clip with a woman principal of a school went viral recently.

Former honorary secretary Bhag Singh Ankhi demanded that Chadha had brought disgrace to the Sikh community by indulging in such an “unpardonable” act. “We fail to understand that when the SAD’s former minister Sucha Singh Langah could be excommunicated from Panth in no time for a similar offence, then what is stopping Akal Takht and the SGPC to do the same treatment with Chadha,” he said.

The agitating members, supported by the CKD’s Ludhiana unit members, wrote to the SGPC to include the issue in its upcoming general body meeting scheduled for January 16 and report it to Akal Takht.

The Akal Takht had already summoned Chadha to appear before the five high priests on January 23 to clarify his stance over the controversy and the CKD, too, had called up its general house on February 6 on the sole agenda of deciding upon Chadha’s fate.
