New Delhi, February 13

There was a sharp drop in the quantum of diesel and gas transported to Punjab on a daily basis with government sources saying diesel dispatched was 50% less than on normal days and gas dispatched was 20% less.

"This leaves Punjab with 50% diesel and 80% gas availability. The drop in the volumes dispatched on Tuesday was on account of technical and safety challenges posed by the ongoing farmer protests and heavy barricading along all major routes to Punjab," official sources said, flagging possibility of supply crunch of diesel and gas over the coming days should the protests continue.
