Cong releases first list of 50 candidates

Chandigarh, February 9

The Congress today released the first list of its candidates for the forthcoming Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) elections.

The list contains names of candidates for 50 of the 95 seats for which polls are scheduled to be held on February 24, a PPCC spokesperson said here.

A final round of discussions was held at a meeting between AICC incharge for Punjab affairs Asha Kumari, secretary AICC Harish Kumar, PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar and Cabinet Minister Tript Bajwa in New Delhi today.

Jakhar told The Tribune: “Candidates have mostly been decided by local leaders. We will name other candidates soon.” — TNS
