A Gidderbaha court today granted bail to SAD leader Hardeep Singh ‘Dimpy’ Dhillon, his brother Sunny and a personal assistant, who were arrested by the Kotbhai police for allegedly capturing a polling booth on Wednesday. However, they are yet to be released from the district jail as they were booked by the Gidderbaha police in another case for an alleged bid to capture a booth. The court had remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days on Thursday.
Shivraj Singh, SP, district jail, said, “We have got the bail orders in one case, but another court has sent production warrants in the other case. We have written to the court to clarify whether they can be released.”
Meanwhile, former CM Parkash Singh Badal and former Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal today visited the jail and met party leaders. Party MLA Kanwarjit Singh ‘Rozy Barkandi’ accompanied them.
Talking to the media, the former CM said it was the first time in Punjab’s history that party leaders who had gone to a polling station to take stock of the situation had been booked.
Advocate Gurmeet Mann, also an SAD leader, said, “We had submitted the bail orders to the jail authorities, but in the meantime, the Gidderbaha police submitted the production warrants for September 25.”
