New Delhi: The Finance Ministry has ruled out re-introduction of Rs 1,000 notes and said logistics issues of reloading ATMs more frequently were being addressed.

New Delhi: The Finance Ministry has ruled out re-introduction of Rs 1,000 notes and said logistics issues of reloading ATMs more frequently were being addressed. 

Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das said the focus was on increasing production and supply of Rs 500 and lower denomination currencies, while complaints of cash shortage were being looked into.

He also requested people to desist from withdrawing more money than they needed. “Complaints of cash-outs in ATMs being addressed. Request everyone to draw the cash they actually require. Overdrawal by some deprives others,” he tweeted. — PTI

Fake notes from ATM: SBI sees miscreants’ hand

New Delhi: Following reports that fake notes were dispensed from its ATM at Sangam Vihar, New Delhi, on February 6, the SBI said the possibility of such an event was very remote and that it suspected involvement of miscreants in the incident. In a statement, the bank authorities said: “The possibility of fake notes from bank’s ATMs is very remote and the bank suspects involvement of some miscreants with mischievous intent.” TNS
