A job fair organised by the Prison Department today proved to be a boon for nearly two-thirds of the prisoners released from various Telangana jails with firms picking them up for employment.

Officials said 81 out of the 129 released prisoners managed to get employed as marketing executive, office attendants, drivers, house-keeping, data entry operators, electricians, helpers, technicians, etc.

They have been offered salaries ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000.

Of course, the Prison Department vouched for the released inmates and assured the firms about the “good behaviour” of the released prisoners.

“The job fairs are being held since November 2017 in which over 650 released prisoners have been provided jobs so far,” a senior official of the department said.
