Ludhiana, April 22

A two-day fashion extravaganza – “Ludhiana Fashion Week” held at the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) laid thrust on social issues concerning society. The event showcased collections of passing out students and of INIFD’s alumni designers.

“Anubandham” collection represented the Hindu-Muslim unity. The amalgamation of two religions was showcased through a common element Hijab, which finds its place in garments irrespective of its origin.

The collection revealed evolution of women from traditional to modern era. The homosexual community was projected as active, dynamic, bold and sensual by imbibing transparency in black, white and contrasting colour outfits through “Knighthood” collection.

The all-white attire of widows was projected as colourful by embellishing them with embroidery in “White Rainbow” collection. It reflected an invincible spirit of women to combat taboos of society.

“Potere” derived its inspiration from the military, which reflects power. Powerful silhouettes created by structured garments, long coats, short skirts with pleats and long skirts with coats on them lent a stiffness and a bold character for girls towards self-dependency.

Inspired by quick-witted Disney princess character, “Moana” – kids wear collection was also showcased.

Several other collections were designed by taking a cue from crafts of Persia, physical training forms of Japan, Indian art and blue pottery.
