There was no relief for rail passengers in the region as seven trains remained cancelled and five were rescheduled for late departure while a dozen long-route trains were running late.
The Railway authorities said 12332 Jammu-Howrah Himgiri Express, 12459/60 New Delhi-Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express, 13049/50 Howrah-Amristar-Howrah Express, 14681/82 New Delhi-Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity Express were cancelled for the day.
Among the rescheduled trains were 12238 Jammu-Varanasi Begumpura Express (1.30 hrs), 12411 Amritsar-Chandigarh Intercity Express (3.05 hrs), 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express (4 hrs), 15210 Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express (4.55 hrs), and 22423 Gorakhpur-Amritsar Superfast Express (4 hrs).
The situation for those travelling between the Delhi and various destinations of Punjab was no better as 12029 New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express, along with a pair of 12497/98 New Delhi-Amritsar-New Delhi Shane-Punjab, were running behind schedule by 40 minutes to 1.15 hrs.
