Ludhiana, February 20

Activists of the Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh carried out a protest march against the “anti-labourer” policies of the NDA government here today.

A large number of labourers, led by Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh president Bhagirath Paliwal and District Secretary Nishi Mani, took part in the protest organised under the call for national-level black day by the Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh.

The protest march started from the Municipal Corporation complex and near the office of the Ludhiana Municipal Commissioner. The protestors, carrying black flags as a mark of protest, raised slogans against the Modi government.

Addressing the protestors outside the office of the Ludhiana Municipal Commissioner, Paliwal said the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modim, has failed to live up to the expectations of the labour class. “The situation of labourers turned worst from bad due to the anti-labour policies of the government and the gap between rich and poor has been widening. Even the Union Government’s budget has failed to provide any policy to improve the condition of the labour class,” said Paliwal.

District Secretary Nishi Mani said: “The Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh welcomes the initiative undertaken by the government to benefit the farmers, but expects the government to frame policies for the betterment of the labour class also. He said the Sangh would continue its struggle and will further sharpen its movement against the government.”

Nageshwar Singh, Ram Singh, Ghanshaym Singh, Hardish Masih and several others participated in the protest.
