Sohan Kumar, a student of Gulzar Group of Institutes, Khanna, won a gold medal in Soldierathon held in New Delhi. It was a road running event to salute martyrs. More than 6,000 runners, including the families of armed forces personnel and martyrs and schoolchildren from the Army and naval schools, participated in the marathon, organised in the memory of martyrs. Different categories included half-marathon, 10 km, 5km, 3km and wheelchair. Sohan Kumar won gold in the 5-km category.

Sohan said he had an urge to make his mentors proud and that there was still a long way to go. Gurkirat Singh, executive director, said they encourage students to go to different avenues and gain as much experience as they can so that it helps them in shaping their future. He said we owe a lot to our soldiers and Soldierathon was an event for all soldiers, who are among us and those who have sacrificed their lives for the country.
