Ludhiana: The CIA-1 wing of the city police has arrested four snatchers and recovered six mobile phones and a motorcycle from them.



Ludhiana: The CIA-1 wing of the city police has arrested four snatchers and recovered six mobile phones and a motorcycle from them. The accused are Prabhleen Singh, Jagvinder Singh of Guru Nanak Nagar Daba, Amritpal Singh of New Janta Nagar and Kuldeep Singh of Gyan Singh Nagar. During a routine patrolling on Lohara Canal Bridge, the bike-borne persons were stopped for checking. The accused confessed to having committed several loots in the city. CIA chief Prem Singh said on April 18, three persons snatched a mobile phone from a girl and the CIA immediately started probe to nab the snatchers. Later, they were rounded up. The CIA chief said all accused were drug addicts. 

Man booked for raping minor

The Jamalpur police have booked a man on the charge of raping a minor. The accused has been identified as Kamal Dev, alias Neeraj Kumar, of Kakka Dhola. The complainant said on April 19, his daughter was alone at home, when the accused came and raped her. The moment he reached, he saw the accused coming out of his house. Later, his daughter told him everything. The accused was yet to be arrested.

Travel agent booked for fraud

The police have booked a travel agent for duping two persons on the pretext of sending them abroad. Complainant Balbir Singh of Bamb village told the police that the accused had taken Rs 8.20 lakh from his son Amarjit Singh and one Davinder Singh to send them to Canada on work permit. However, the accused failed to arrange any visa. 

Drug peddler arrested

The police have arrested a peddler and recovered banned drugs from him. He has been identified as Vijay Sidhu, alias Chota Lalla, of Rajesh Nagar Haibowal. The police said at a naka installed in Haibowal Kalan, a man was stopped for checking which led to the recovery of 600 intoxicant tablets from him. Later, during interrogation, one illegal weapon of .32 along with six live cartridges were also recovered from him. TNS
