Following the complaint by a constable, the police have booked a man for allegedly threatening a traffic policeman and also obstructing him from performing his duty at the Phullanwal Chowk here. The accused has been identified as Amarinder Singh of Basant Avenue.
Sources said Amarinder Singh was not wearing the seat belt and when he was asked to show documents, he allegedly started threatening the complainant saying he was the son of a former councillor of the Shiromani Akali Dal and fled the spot.
Constable Harbhol Singh said when he stopped a Scorpio at the Phullanwal Chowk, the accused started misbehaving with him and snatched pen from his hand. The accused also tried to snatch his challan book, he said.
The Sadar police had registered a case under Sections 379 B, 353, 186 and 506 of the IPC against former councillor’s son. Meanwhile, the former councillor told the police that his son was innocent. Further probe is on, said the police.
