Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s reluctance to meet the visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was unfortunate. This was stated by Manjit Singh GK, president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC).

He said if the two leaders would have met, it might have been beneficial for the Punjabi diaspora in Canada and Punjab itself.

Manjit Singh GK was in the city today to canvass support for SAD-B candidate from Ward No. 75, Sukhminder Kaur Bhinda, for the coming MC elections.

Addressing the media before a rally in support of the nominee in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, he said questions were being raised over the authenticity of the CD against Jagdish Tytler submitted by him to special investigation team (SIT) chairman Justice SN Dhingra. He said the CD was based on facts and Justice Dhingra had conveyed to him in writing about the receipt of the CD and that it would be examined for genuineness. The DSGMC chief was confident that the new SIT would be able to dig out the real truth behind the anti-Sikh riots of 1984.

Later, seeking votes for Sukhminder Kaur Bhinda, wife of sitting councilor Bhupinder Singh Bhimda, Manjit Singh GK made scathing attacks on the Congress government, saying it had failed on all fronts. “The Congress has failed to fulfil any poll promises or do anything worthwhile for the farmers, the unemployed youth, the poor or to promote the trade and industry,” he said.

The DSGMC president asked the electorate to compare the track record of the SAD-B for the past two decades with that of the present Congress government and vote for the SAD-B candidates. Among others present at the occasion were former BJP state president Kamal Sharma, SAD-B vice-president Maheshinder Singh Grewal, former MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali, BJP leaders Rajinder Bhandari and Kamal Chatley.
