As the town is located on the National Highway No. 1, a Civil Hospital along with trauma centre will be established here to provide first aid to accident victims, which will help save many precious lives. This was announced by Health Minister Brahm Mohindra, who was in the town to attend the annual convocation of a local college, on Saturday.

The minister also assured that the construction of the Civil Hospital at Doraha would begin soon. Speaking on the issue of an overloaded sewerage treatment plant he said though it did not fall under his purview, he would talk to the Local Bodies Department for an early solution to the problem.

Replying to a query on paucity of doctors at local dispensary, Mohindra said the government had recently made recruitment for 216 posts. “A doctor will be provided for dispensary in the town,” he added.

The minister was felicitated at the residence of the Doraha Citizen’s Welfare Association president, Arun Bector, for allocating Rs 20 crore in the Budget for setting up a Civil Hospital in the town.

“We have no words to thank the minister for giving a patient hearing to residents, who want a Civil Hospital and adequate medical facilities in the town, and allocating Rs 20 crore for the same in the annual Budget,” shared Congress leader Jagjiwan Pal Singh Gill and Arun Bector, who had been impressing upon the successive governments for a Civil Hospital at Doraha.

Residents, including Arun Bector, Jagjiwan Pal Singh Gill, Jogeshwar Singh Mangat, Pawan Kumar Kaushal, Harjiwan Pal Singh Gill, Harpratap Brar, Dr Narinder Sidhu, Dr Gursharan Sidhu, Dr Aditi Bector, Rajbir Singh Roobal, Pavittar Pal Singh Pangli, local MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha, Municipal Council president Bant Singh Daburjee and a number of social welfare organisations thanked the health minister for his special efforts for setting up hospital in the town.

“We have indeed no words to thank the health minister, who accepted our demand in the very first instance and allocated funds for setting up Civil Hospital in this town. Such ministers are an asset as they alone can understand the pulse of the people and take immediate steps for redressal of their grievances,” they said.

Health Minister Brahm Mohindra said he was overjoyed by visit to his home town. He also visited the Mohindra house where he met his brother Madan Mohindra, cousins Ajay Mohindra, Ram Kamal Mohindra, Sushil Mohindra and other members of the family.
