Ludhiana: Taking cue from personal life encounters, two city-based artists intertwined art and human psyche at an art exhibition here on Sunday. Sahil Jain presented ‘Inflammable at your own risk’ which is a composition of imagery to show how humans of present day and age are materialistic and use their counterparts as nothing more than a stepping stone. Interlocked chain of chairs personified humans, who are used as ladders for others. Some are able to fly high on the crest of success, while some are left crippled behind. He uses satirical approach by unmasking the sheaths of human psyche and unveils its inflammable core, which has an inextinguishable lust to achieve power and money. Sahil says: “I have weaved my personal experiences in my art. All of us have encountered hate, betrayal, lust, agony caused by someone else in our lives. In my life, too, I have experienced betrayal. The artwork shows how we humans put on a mask for our survival. It shows the black truth and golden lies of every human. How we please others because we know we will be benefitted or how we become ignorant towards someone, who has been our support.” Saru presented love birds, whose relationship is pure and immiscible. The love that the two birds share is beyond materialistic desire. Her other creation was a sculpture of a slipper. She said: “Animal skins are peeled off for leather that we wear. I urge people to put an end to cruelty towards animals and adopt a vegan lifestyle.” — Naina Mishra
