When work is romance

IN THE LANES OF LOVE: Dr Jaspreet and Dr Harpreet Batth

Mona

They share home and office, and for 29 years now have worn matching clothes to work every single day... if you thought romance has taken a backseat, check out Hartek Singh and Keerti H Singh! And they are not alone!

Amid all the talk about life getting monotonous,... meet these couples who share not only the hearth, but the office too and yet manage to keep the spark of romance alive.

Handle with care

Rachit and Lavanya Malhotra have been married for three years. While he heads the hair-care at Femina Plus, she handles make-up. While working under strict timelines, when Lavanya hears Mere rang mein rangne wali playing in the saloon, she knows that it is her hubby dearest who is expressing his love!

“My parents have worked together for 20 years and we have learnt from them not only the tricks of the trade, but also how to make each other feel special.” This duo often treats destination weddings as honeymoons when they don’t have to pay for the flight!

Live it up

Music plays the binding force in Dr Sandeep Jassal and nutritionist Pallavi Jassal’s love life too. Often when she is walking down the stairs, he sings a song in her honour. “It’s been 16 years that we have been together and his songs still make me blush,” admits Pallavi. They run a wellness clinic, Live Life More, together, and share adjacent cabins.

“Often when I have more patients than I can deal with, she puts her queue on hold to prepare a quick cup of coffee for me. Now who wouldn’t fall for that,” says Dr Sandeep. And their ‘we’ time is – watching Netflix together!

Smile please

Running into their silver anniversary year, Dr Jaspreet Batth and Dr Harpreet Batth not only teach at the same dental college, but also work at Dr Batth’s Dental Practice together. “Both of us are early risers, so each morning at 4:30 we are out for a walk or a game of golf,” shares Dr Jaspreet.

Living together 24x7, one must be wary not to take one’s spouse for granted and the couple is aware of it.” While they are pretty settled in their weekday routine, weekends are a break from the monotony. Socialising with friends is on the cards often, as is having time off from each other by hanging out with their respective friends. “As much as I love her and share my personal-professional space, we intentionally take a break. She loves hanging out with her girlie gang and I go out with my friends,” Dr Jaspreet spills the beans.

Legally yours

Having been married for a month, advocates Shrey Goel and Shreya Vashisht do feel that moving in together does change the equations. He is a smooth talker and she, a naughty soul. “The very way he introduces me to his extended family or friends speaks of the adoration, making me fall in love with him all over again,” shares Shreya.

As for him, it’s her wink in the very sedate office atmosphere that makes his heart go aflutter. “When she slips out of office to say bye and gives a quick hug, as I leave for a meeting, it sure is a high.”

Dressed in black and grey on a week-day, Hartek and Keerti, who run Hartek Power Private Limited, reveal that respecting boundaries is what has kept the romance alive in their lives. “Work is Hartek’s passion. Soon after the wedding, I joined his office so as to be on the same page,” says Keerti.

Having shared the same office for 15 years and now into their new premises in Mohali, they still have offices next to each other and designated spaces for personal, professional talks. “He is a Piscean and doesn’t lose an opportunity to shower love and attention,” Keerti smiles.

In office, the recreation room is the place where they love to steal a cup of tea together. “No work talk there,” says Hartek. Similarly, at home their bedroom is what they call a sanctuary of love, strictly ‘we’ zone where work talk is never brought up! “Early in our married life we resolved not to sleep bitter, but kiss and make-up.” Love is in the office, for sure!
