Never too late

What’s heartwarming is the fact that she never stopped dreaming.

What’s heartwarming is the fact that she never stopped dreaming. Every step, which would usually prove to be a step away from her dream, notwithstanding.

Marriage. Check. Corporate job. Check. Child. Check. When all put together, it would mean a life miles away from the world of modelling and limelight. “But that’s when the journey actually started for me. After marriage and after the birth of my child,” shares city-based Ruby Dhiman, who just won the title of Mrs Heritage Queen India 2018.

A manager at an immigration consultant company, she came to know of the auditions in Delhi through a friend. “I had told my husband straight away about my desire to participate in beauty pageants and pursue modelling. He was supportive and had put the word out for any suitable platform.”

The audition in Delhi was her first-ever brush with the world of auditions and ramp. Wasn’t it too late a start for her? “Before marriage, parents have their own apprehensions; moreover we are busy pursuing so many other things in life. In fact, thanks to a supportive husband, for me the first step towards my dreams started after meeting him,” shares the mother of a five-year-old baby boy.

Apart from walking away with the title, she was also crowned Mrs Talent. “In the pageant, the final number of participants was 24.” She adds, “When my son saw me onstage, his first reaction was ‘Mama has become a princess’. And now what? “And now I go back to living my life, only I am one experience richer.” —TNS
