Srinagar, February 22
Investigating the death of the Kulgam youth, who suffered pellet injuries during last year’s unrest in the Kashmir valley, the police today said the deceased had no medical history.
The police in a statement said it had been found that Waseem Ahmad Thoker had no medical history as was published in the reports yesterday citing family sources.
Thoker, a resident of Shouch village in Kulgam, was found dead in his room at an orphanage in the Czawalgam area of the district on early Monday morning.
He worked as an ambulance driver at the orphanage, headed by his father.
The family members had said that Thoker was hit by “around 250-300 pellets in his chest” during the last year’s unrest and had blamed the injuries for his death. Thoker was brought to the district hospital, Kulgam, by his friends, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
The police said it was ascertaining the facts about the cause of Waseem’s death and advised people “not to fall prey to vested interests”.
